Bicycle was the common form of transport in the city. I took this just outside our hotel early in the morning. Lastest statistic showed that each day 1000+ new cars are put onto the road in Beijing alone and they've put in place restrictions for road usage. Cars are given number plates that can be driven only on certain days of the week (ie Monday/ Wed /Friday), otherwise you'll get a ticket!
